Prime Minister’s press conference in the afternoon

Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold a press conference in the afternoon to brief the media about the outcome of her recent three-day official visit to Brussels, the capital of Belgium.
 
The Prime Minister’s Press Secretary, Ihsanul Karim, said that the press conference will start at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Ganabhaban.

Sheikh Hasina went to Brussels on October 24 at the invitation of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. During the visit, he held several meetings with the leaders of European countries on the sidelines. After the visit, the Prime Minister returned to Dhaka on October 27.

On the morning of October 25, he held a bilateral meeting with EC Executive Vice President and European Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis. Later, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh held a bilateral meeting with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. After this bilateral meeting, a loan assistance agreement of 350 million euros was signed between the Economic Relations Department (ERD) of the Government of Bangladesh and the European Investment Bank in the renewable energy sector.

A grant agreement of 45 million euros has also been signed between the European Commission and the European Investment Bank for the renewable energy sector in Bangladesh. At the same time, a 12 million euro grant agreement was signed between the Government of Bangladesh and the EC for Bangladesh’s renewable energy sector. In addition, five different grant agreements worth 70 million euros were signed between the Government of Bangladesh and the EC in Bangladesh’s social sector during this visit.

Sheikh Hasina attended and addressed the inaugural plenary session of the Global Gateway Forum on the same day, October 25. President of the European Investment Bank in the afternoon. Warner Hoare meets with the Prime Minister. The European Commission Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, and Commissioner for International Partnership, Juta Urpillainen, also paid a courtesy call to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. In the evening, the Prime Minister attended a dinner hosted by Ursula von der Leyen in honor of the heads of state and government participating in the Global Gateway Forum.

On the morning of October 26, he held two separate bilateral meetings with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Crewe and Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. In the afternoon of the same day, the Prime Minister attended the concluding plenary session of the Global Gateway Forum. Sheikh Hasina later attended a reception given to Bangladeshi expatriates living in Belgium.
