Dhaka Bureau: The verdict of the High Court will be announced today (October 30) in the case related to the terrorist attack and brutal murder in the capital’s Holy Artisan Bakery.
Justice Sahidul Karim and Justice Md. Mostafizur Rahman’s High Court bench have listed the case as number one on Monday’s agenda.
Earlier, after the hearing on Wednesday, October 11, the court fixed October 30 for the verdict.
The case came up for hearing in January of this year. Then the hearing started on May 3. Deputy Attorney General Bashir Ahmed was at the hearing of the state party in the court. Lawyers Ariful Islam and Amimul Ehsan were for the accused.
On the night of July 1, 2016, the members of the banned militant organization New JMB (suicide) attacked the Holy Artisan restaurant in Gulshan and killed 20 people, including foreign nationals. During this time, two police officers were killed. Later, five militants were killed in a commando operation.
In the case of this incident, on November 27, 2019, Dhaka Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal Judge Md. Mujibur Rahman acquitted one and sentenced seven to death.
