Dhaka Bureau: DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman said that a decision will be taken after reviewing the permission for the assembly of the Awami League and BNP on October 28. He said this in response to a question from reporters on Friday (October 27).
Earlier, it was known that the Dhaka Metropolitan Police would allow the Awami League-BNP to hold a rally at a place of their choice. It is reported that such a decision was taken in a meeting at DMP headquarters.
Meanwhile, additional commissioner of DMP, b. Mahid Uddin (Crime and Operations), told the media that no party has been given permission in writing yet. A decision will be taken on Friday. The police will ensure maximum security. Checkposts will be set up and searched at every place at the entrance of Dhaka.
On the same day, Jamaat wrote to the DMP, seeking permission to hold a rally at Shapla Chattar in Motijheel. But the police are not willing to allow the party to enter the field to hold a rally.
The BNP, which is in a phase of simultaneous movement ahead of the national elections, says that there can be no fair and impartial elections in the country under the party government. For this reason, the party wants elections under a non-partisan government through the resignation of the current government and the dissolution of parliament.
On the other hand, the ruling Awami League is saying that according to the constitution, the 12th National Parliament election will be held under the Sheikh Hasina government. There is no scope for altering the constitution.
