Dhaka Bureau: The pre-election observation mission of the United States is coming to Dhaka today in view of the upcoming national elections. The delegation is scheduled to visit Dhaka on Saturday (September 7) on a week-long mission. The six-member delegation will stay till October 13.
According to information from the US Embassy in Dhaka, a delegation of the US-funded International Republican Institute (IRI) and National Democratic Institute (NDI) will visit Bangladesh on October 7–13. They will come to conduct a Joint Pre-Election Assessment Mission (PEAM) as per NDI’s policy declaration for international observers.
During the visit, they are scheduled to meet representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs, Election Commission, Citizen Observers, Civil Organizations, and Women and Youth Organizations.
Apart from this, the members of the delegation will also talk to local and international media organizations in Bangladesh and representatives of foreign embassies and high commissions working in Bangladesh.
