Dhaka Bureau: Two workers were electrocuted while lowering iron pipes in the Shah Ali area of Mirpur in the capital. The deceased are Rubel Das (25), and Hridoy Das (26), and their bodies have been sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Mortuary. Three others were injured in the incident.
Rubel Das’s house is in Sadellapur village in Kaharol upazila of Dinajpur. Hriday Das’s house is in Maheshpur, Kaharol upazila, Dinajpur.
The doctors said that the burned workers are out of danger. All the injured are workers of M/s Momin Enterprises.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Darussalam Zone Assistant Police Commissioner (AC) Mofizur Rahman Palash said that the workers were unloading iron pipes from trucks in the Royal City area adjacent to the embankment. At that time, it touched the high-voltage power line passing over the road. Two people died on the spot.
He also said that their bodies have been sent to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
