Tangail Correspondent: On Saturday, September 16, at around 10 o’clock, the bodies of two children were recovered from the pond next to the house in the Hikaya Paschimpara area of the upazila. Meem is the daughter of Kamrul Hasan of that area, and Jhuma is the daughter of Babul Mia. Both of them were students at Hekaya Government Primary School. The upazila is in extreme panic after the bodies of two more children were recovered within a week in Sakhipur.
According to the child’s family and local sources, Meem and Jhuma went out to play after having lunch on Saturday. Even after the evening, they did not return home. Since then, the family has started searching for them. The dead body was found after searching with a net in the pond on the north side of the house until 10:15 p.m.
Meanwhile, after Saturday evening, when the news of the disappearance of children Meem and Jhuma spread on social media, panic was created throughout the upazila. Earlier, on September 8, 9-year-old Samia was brutally killed after being abducted in Dariyapur village of the upazila. As a result, the news of missing children of the same age, Meem and Jhuma, is causing extreme panic among the upazila residents. Along with campaigning through social media, I searched the surrounding area. Later, their bodies were recovered from the pond.
Sakhipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rezaul Karim said that the police were sent to the spot after receiving information about the disappearance. No one has complained to the police till now. Legal action will be taken if complaints are received.
