International Desk: The G-20 summit of the world’s top 20 economic countries is going to be held in New Delhi, the capital of India, from September 9 to 10. And this time, Russia will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. However, Lavrov will visit Bangladesh before visiting India.

He will visit Dhaka on September 7-8. The Russian Embassy in Bangladesh confirmed this information in a message from their official X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday (September 5) night. On the first day of the visit, Foreign Minister Dr. He is supposed to have a meeting with Abdul Momen. He will hold talks with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina the next day.

Russia’s most important regional and international issues will be discussed with Bangladesh during Lavrov’s visit, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said. Maria said this while talking to reporters on Tuesday, September 5. On the other hand, Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera reported about an official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh saying that bilateral meetings will be held on various issues between Bangladesh and Russia during Lavrov’s visit.

This will include ‘nuclear power plant payments’, trade, and energy. Russia is interested in strengthening bilateral relations with Bangladesh. And with that in mind, Lavrov will come to Dhaka before going to New Delhi. Meanwhile, Lavrov is the first Russian foreign minister to visit Dhaka since independence. Besides, after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, a top local diplomat from Moscow is coming to Dhaka.
