Own Correspondent: The dead body of an unidentified old man aged at least 65 years was found in the Jangchari Canal flowing through the border of Padua and Charamba Unions in Lohagara, South Chittagong. On Tuesday, September 5, Elash was seen by a local man named Shahidul Islam, who came to fish in the canal around 2:30 PM.
He found the body stuck to the bushes on the bank of the canal on the south side of the Janchhari canal bridge. On receiving the news, a police team led by Inspector (Investigation) Saiful Islam of Lohagara police station recovered the body from the canal. He said that the body may have floated on water from upstream. No injury marks were found anywhere on his body. Arrangements have been made to send the body to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Shahidul Islam first saw the body and informed the local people. Hundreds of people from the area gathered on the bank of the Janchhari canal to see the dead body. On the other hand, on the afternoon of Monday, September 4, a child named Md. Abdullah (4) drowned in a pond in the Noarbila area of Charamba Union.
