Khulna Correspondent: The indefinite strike called by fuel oil traders for three-point demand, including an increase in commission, has been suspended on Sunday (September 3) around 10:15 p.m.
Abdul Gaffar Biswas, president of the Khulna divisional committee of the Bangladesh Fuel and Oil Distributors Association, told reporters this information. Earlier, fuel oil traders in Khulna went on strike by stopping oil extraction and transportation from the fuel depot for an indefinite period from Sunday morning on a 3-point demand, including increasing the commission on the sale of fuel oil.
The three-point demand of fuel oil traders is to make the economic life of tankers transporting fuel oil 50 years, to make the current commission on selling fuel oil at least 7.5 percent, and to publish clear gazettes as per the commitment of fuel oil traders under the Commission Agent Act.
The Bangladesh Tanker Owners Association, Bangladesh Fuel Distributors Association, Khulna Divisional Tanker Workers Union, and Padma Meghna and Yamuna Tanker Workers Welfare Association called the program. As a result, fuel oil supply was stopped in 10 districts of Khulna division and 4 districts of Greater Faridpur.
On August 23, in the preparatory meeting organized in Khulna’s New Market area, the fuel oil traders set a deadline of August 31 to meet the 3-point demand, including increasing the commission on the sale of fuel oil.
