Dhaka Bureau: The Awami League is holding a meeting on Saturday, August 12, to prepare for the upcoming National Assembly elections. Awami League President Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will preside over the meeting at Ganobhaban, the official residence of the Prime Minister, in the evening. In that meeting, several senior leaders of the party said that important decisions were going to be made regarding the future politics and elections of the party. It is known that nine agendas have been fixed for the executive meeting of the Awami League.
These are: condolence proposal, party president Sheikh Hasina’s birthday celebration (September 28), Sheikh Russell Day (October 18), jail killing day (November 3), Noor Hossain Day (November 10), Dr. Union Day (November 27), Current Affairs (National and International), Organizational Affairs, and Misc. Besides, party chief Sheikh Hasina can give a set of election guidelines in the meeting.
The political issues going on in the country and abroad regarding the elections, what to do to deal with the continuous movement of the opposition parties, and the organizational situation of the Awami League can also be discussed in the meeting. The election strategy will be determined at this meeting. Awami League joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nashim told the media that the meeting has a specific agenda. They will be discussed. Besides, decisions will be made on various issues, including contemporary politics, our goals, and the internal problems of the party.
Several leaders of the executive parliament of the Awami League said that the national parliament election is ahead. In this situation, the executive meeting will naturally talk about the party’s actions in the election. Sheikh Hasina will try to resolve the internal conflicts before the election. There will also be election-specific messages. Also, some day-based programs will be offered. There may be discussions about the ongoing discussions about the elections, what to do to deal with the continuous movement of the opposition parties, and the organizational situation of the Awami League.
In the special extended meeting of the Awami League held last Sunday, the issue of distance between Trinamool leaders and MPs came to light again. On that day, Trinamool leaders severely criticized the MPs on various issues in front of the party chief. After six days of that special extended meeting, the meeting of the executive council of the party is very important.
A source in the party said that the organizational status of the eight departments may be asked in the meeting of all the executive committees.
