The Crime Desk: Today is two o’clock. 82nd death anniversary of world poet Rabindranath Tagore. Bangla 1348 Baishe Shravan (English 7 August – 1941) died at his ancestral residence in Calcutta. Rabindranath Tagore, one of the greatest literary poets of Bengali literature, was born in Jorasanko Tagore family in Calcutta, West Bengal, India on 25th Baishakh of 1268 Bengal. His father was Devendranath Tagore.

Mother Sarada is a beautiful goddess. Rabindranath’s ancestors lived in Pithabhog of Rupsa Upazila of Khulna District. Various organizations have organized programs on the occasion of his death anniversary today. Chhaynat organized the program on Sunday (August 6) evening in its own auditorium. Also, various institutions and organizations including Bangla Academy organized the program.

Rabindranath Tagore is a poet, novelist, dramatist, musician, essayist, philosopher, linguist, painter-storyteller. He started writing poetry at the age of eight. In 1874, his first poem ‘Avilash’ was published in ‘Tattvabodhini Patrika’. He is famous in the contemporary world as an extraordinary creative writer and literary man. Written in Bengali and English. His literary works have been translated into various languages of the world. His writings have been incorporated into the curricula of various countries. In 1878, his first book of poetry ‘Kavikahin’ was published. Since then, the poet’s writings of various genres have been published in newspapers and magazines abroad.

His poetry book ‘Gitanjali’ was published in 1910. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913 for the English translation of this poem. Apart from writing, he established a Brahmacharya ashram in Santiniketan, West Bengal in 1901. Since then he started living there. In 1905, he got involved in the movement against the partition of Bengal. In 1921, he established an organization called ‘Sriniketan’ for rural development. In 1923, ‘Vishwa Bharati’ was officially established. From 1891 onwards, the poet started overseeing the zamindaris in Shilaidha, Pabna, Natore and Orissa in Kushtia on the orders of his father.

He spent a long time in Shilaidah. Here in the zamindar’s house he composed many poems and songs. In 1901, the poet moved to Shantiniketan in Bolpur with his family from Shilaidah. From 1878 to 1932 he traveled to more than 30 countries on five continents. The poet composed two thousand songs. He composed most of the songs. His entire song is contained in the book ‘Gitbitan’. The song ‘Amar Sonar Bangla I love you’ written by the poet is the national anthem of Bangladesh.

The national anthem of India is also written by the poet. During his lifetime, he published 52 books of original poetry, 13 novels, 95 books of short stories, 36 books of essays and prose, 38 books of plays. After the poet’s death, ‘Rabindra Rachnavali’ was published in 36 volumes. In addition, there are 19 volumes of ‘Rabindra Letters’. From 1928 to 1939, the number of paintings drawn by the poet is more than two and a half thousand. Of these, 1,574 paintings are preserved in the Rabindra Bhaban of Santiniketan. The first exhibition of the poet’s paintings was held at the Pigalle Art Gallery in Paris in 1926 at the initiative of artists from the south of France.
