Dhaka Bureau: Writer-researcher, intellectual, leader of the children and youth movement, cultural organizer, former member of Parliament Professor Panna Kaiser is no more (Inna Lillahi, Rajiun). He died on Friday (August 4) around 8 a.m. while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital. It is known that she got married with Shahidullah Qaiser on 17 February 1969. There was a curfew in Dhaka that day.
The whole country was in turmoil at that time. By holding the hand of Shahidullah Qaiser, he was introduced to modern literature and politics. His married life lasted only two years and 10 months. On the evening of December 14, 1971, Shahidullah Qaiser was abducted from his house by members of the Al Badar Force. Then he never came back.
After that, Panna Kaiser raised her two children, Shami Kaiser and Amitabh Kaiser, alone. Besides, he has been a presidium member of the Shishu Kishore organization ‘Khelaghar’ since 1973. In 1990, he assumed responsibility as the head of this organization.
Panna Kaiser was the Member of Parliament from the Awami League’s reserved seat in the National Parliament from 1996–2001. Panna Kaiser was born on 25 May 1950. His other name is Saifunnahar Chowdhury. Her husband, Shahidullah Qaiser, was a prominent journalist, writer, and politician. He was awarded the 2021 Bangla Academy Literary Award for his contribution to research on the Liberation War.
