Crimes against humanity: Four people were hanged, including Mannan of Pirojpur

Pirojpur Correspondent: The International Criminal Tribunal has awarded the death sentence to four people, including Abdul Mannan Howladar of Bhandari of Pirojpur, in the case of crimes against humanity during the Great War of Independence.
Chairman of the Tribunal The three-member International Criminal Tribunal, headed by Shahinur Islam, gave its verdict on Thursday (July 20). Advocate Gazi MH Tamim was present on behalf of the accused. Prosecutor Sahidur Rahman was for the state. Prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chaman was with him.
The four convicts sentenced to death are Abdul Mannan Howladar, alias A., of Hetalia area of Bhandaria upazila of Pirojpur. Mannan dealer alias Mannaf, Ashrab Ali alias Ashraf Ali Howladar of the same area, Charkhali area Md. Maharaj Howlader alias Hatkata Maharaj (on bail), and Nurul Amin Howlader (absconding). Charges of illegal detention, torture, abduction, looting, arson, rape, murder, and genocide have been filed against the accused. According to the court, they were ordered to be punished as it was proved beyond doubt that 24 people were killed, 1 person was raped, 3 people and a woman were seriously injured by the accused, and 2 people died while undergoing treatment.
The four convicted accused were supporters of the Convention Muslim League during the liberation war, but now they are supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami.
