The Crime News Desk: The holy Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated in different areas of the country, including Satkania of Chittagong, on Wednesday (June 28) in conjunction with Saudi Arabia. This tradition of celebrating Eid in these villages has been going on for many years in common with Saudi Arabia.
Early Eid celebrants are followers of Jahangiriya Shah Sufi Mamtazia Darbar Sharif of Chandanish, Chittagong. When the moon is seen in any part of the world, they observe all religious rituals including fasting, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha.
This Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated in at least 110 villages in different parts of the country. Among them, half a hundred villages of several upazilas including Hajiganj, Faridganj of Chandpur and at least 50 villages including Barisal metropolis, Babuganj and 10 villages of Boalmari upazila of Faridpur will perform Eid prayers along with animal sacrifice.
Chandpur representative said that Eid festival has been celebrated since 1920 in several upazilas of Chandpur including Hajiganj. Accordingly, the main Eid congregation is being held today at 9 am in the premises of Sadra Senior Fazil Madrasa in Hajiganj.
According to the Hanafi Madhhab in this region, the late Maulana Ishaq started following the rule of celebrating Eid whenever the moon is seen in any part of the world. Accordingly, the residents of these villages have been observing religious festivals such as Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha and fasting in the holy month of Ramadan in accordance with Saudi Arabia. In continuation of this, they will complete Eid-ul-Azha prayers and Qurbani today as yesterday was Yawm Arafa, that is, the day of the holy Hajj.
Among the villages celebrating Eid in advance – Balakhal, Shripur Manihar, Barakul, Alipur, Belcho, Rajargaon, Jhakni, Kalcho, Menapur in Hajiganj are several villages. Faridganj upazila has – Shachanmegh, Khila, Uvarampur, Aikpara, Bhulachho, Badarpur, Uttali, Nurpur, Kaitara, Surangchal and Bashara. Apart from this there are 18 villages in Matlab. Besides Chandpur, followers of Maulana Ishaq celebrated Eid a day earlier in some places of Noakhali, Laxmipur, Bhola and Shariatpur districts.
According to Barisal representative, about five thousand families are celebrating Eid-ul-Azha today in some upazilas of the metropolis and Babuganj district. For this reason, all the preparations for the Jamaat have been completed in the mosques of more than half a hundred villages. Eid congregation is held in mosques today at 8 am and 8:30 am.
