Dhaka Bureau: Not as a convict, but known to everyone as an executioner. He is the executioner Shahjahan. Full name Shahjahan Bhuiyan. He has been imprisoned for 36 years. This executioner has hanged a total of 34 people so far. He was born on March 26, 1950. He was born in Ichakhali village of Ghazaria union of Palash upazila of Narsingdi. Father’s name is Hasan Ali Bhuiyan. Mother Sabmeher.
He studied up to HSC. He is single in personal life. Executioner Shahjahan Bhuiyan (73), who was imprisoned for 32 years, was finally released. Senior Jail Superintendent of Central Jail Subhash Kumar Ghosh said he was released on Sunday (June 18) morning. Executioner Shahjahan Narsingdi took over as the President of the District Communist Party 4 years after winning the War of Independence. After seeing his performance, he was called from the center. When asked to give him the responsibility of the Communist Party President of Narsingdi district, he agreed.
In 1976, he officially assumed responsibility as district. As a boy, Shah Jahan was a fierce friend-crazy man. Once an incident happened to a woman in her village. Shah Jahan’s two friends were accused in his name. He was put on trial in the village. In that trial he was found guilty and sentenced. Since then his anger started. Unable to bear the humiliation, he decided to take extreme revenge by entering the world of crime. After the incident that killed the woman, he was included in the list of a well-known terrorist in Bangladesh. Besides, since he joined the Communist Party, his demand for any operation increased day by day.
Among them, he did a significant operation in Madaripur district in 1979. This was the last operation in his life. After completing his operation there, he tried to return to Dhaka via Manikganj. On the basis of secret information, the police came to know that Shahjahan’s party would go to Dhaka via Manikganj. When the police check post was set up in Manikganj, Shahjahan got to know about it through his forces in that area. After knowing everything, he remained firm in his decision to return to Dhaka through that area. He fought a gun battle with the police in Manikganj throughout the night but the police could not catch him. After reaching Dhaka, when he left for Narsingdi, the police arrested him on the way.
This was the end of his dynamic life and the beginning of his prison life. First, in 1989, he started his life as an executioner by hanging Nurul Islam of Gafargaon as an associate executioner. This is the first time in his life that someone has been hanged in prison. In 1997, eight years after seeing his merit, the prison authorities gave him the post of chief executioner.
After becoming the chief executioner, Hasan, the accused in the Daisy murder case, was hanged for the first time. Expressing the feeling of hanging, he said that it takes six accomplices along with the main executioner to execute a hanging, and if the sentence of hanging is executed, the prison sentence of two months and four days is waived for all the executioners. Besides, Shah Jahan trained those who expressed their desire to become executioners in the prisons through the prison authorities.
Shajahan and Raju played the role of executioners in the execution of war criminals BNP leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury and Jamaat Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid. But executioner Shah Jahan is different from all other executioners. Jallad Shah Jahan once worked in the army. But fate drags him into the dark world. Since then, he has associated his life with the jail. He was arrested and sentenced to 143 years in 36 cases.
