A foreign pistol was recovered by digging the ground in Gournadi, and one person was arrested

Barisal Correspondent: In a theft case at the capital’s Vasantek police station, Md. Md., along with a foreign pistol, were stolen by digging the soil of the kitchen floor in Barisal’s Gournadi. PBI (Police Bureau Investigation) has arrested an inter-district gang member named Tarek Howladar (22). Dhaka North PBI, with the help of Gournadi Model Police Station of Barisal, arrested him (Tareq) and recovered one stolen foreign pistol from the house of Shahalam Howladar of Nawapara village of Batajor Union of the upazila on Saturday around 8:30 p.m. He (Tarek) is of Nawapara village in the upazila. Son of Shahalam Howladar and known as a van driver in the area.

The investigating officer of the theft case at Vasantech police station and Inspector of Dhaka North PBI, Jewel Mia, said that a group of thieves organized on September 17, 2019 between 4:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. in the Dhaka Cantonment area, Brigadier General (Retd.) Md. 45 pieces of gold ornaments, a foreign pistol, 50 rounds of bullets, and 2100 foreign dollars were stolen from the house of Shamchul Huda. The owner of the house, Brigadier General (Retd.) Md. Shamchul Huda, filed a theft case at Vasantek police station as the plaintiff. In 2020, he (Jewell) got the responsibility of investigating that case. Based on secret information, he raided the house of Shah Alam Howladar in Nawapara village on Saturday (June 3) with the help of Gournadi Police and the Sangeet Force. At that time, when Tarek realized the presence of the police, he was chased and arrested while running away. At that time, according to the confession of the arrested Tarek, he dug three to four feet into the kitchen floor of the house and recovered a stolen foreigner’s pistol wrapped in cloth and polythene.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gournadi Police Station Afzal Hossain said that in this incident, Dhaka North PBI Inspector Md. Jewel Miah filed a case under the Arms Act at the police station on Saturday midnight against arrested inter-district gang member and van driver Tarek Howladar. When the arrested Tarek was handed over to the Barisal Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Sunday afternoon, the court judge ordered him to be sent to jail.
