Load shedding will continue for a few more days: Minister of State for Power

Savar representative: State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that the ongoing load shedding will continue for a few more days due to the energy crisis. He said these things at a function organized at Savar Daffodil University on Saturday (June 3) afternoon.

The state minister for electricity said, ‘The heat has increased a lot. The temperature has gone above 38 degrees. Somewhere, it has become 40–41 degrees. There is some load shedding going on right now. We are sorry for this. The ongoing load shedding will continue for a few more days. About 1700 MW of load shedding is going on on the national grid.

Pointing out that Payra power plant will be completely closed after June 5, he said, “One unit of Payra thermal power plant has been closed since May 25, and the second unit will be completely closed after June 5.” Because there is a shortage of coal and it will take another 20–25 days to arrive.’

Nasrul Hamid said, “We are not getting a lot of power here in the system. Due to this, there is some public suffering. Load shedding has increased. We are also struggling with oil. Now we are diverting most of the gas in the industry.

Convener of Climate Parliament Bangladesh and Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nahim Razzak was present as a special guest at the event.
