Prime Minister’s condolences over the train accident in India

Dhaka, Bangladesh: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the horrific train accident in the Indian state of Odisha. This information was conveyed in a condolence message from the Prime Minister’s Press Wing on Saturday (June 3).

The death toll in the Odisha accident has risen to 288 as of the latest news. More than 850 people were injured. The death toll is expected to rise.

It is believed to be the worst train accident in India in the current century. According to media reports, a total of three trains met with an accident at Balasore in the state of Odisha yesterday evening around seven o’clock local time.

According to Indian Railways, a passenger train named Kormandal Express was traveling from Shalimar near Howrah in West Bengal to Chennai in Tamil Nadu. Some of its coaches derailed, and another speeding passenger train on the adjacent line hit them. The second train was going from Bangalore to Howrah.

Local officials said that the passenger trains also collided with a standing freight train. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief and condolences in a tweet.
