Dhaka Bureau: The budget session of the 11th National Parliament will start tomorrow, Wednesday (May 31). A press release of the National Parliament Secretariat has informed that the speaker of the National Parliament will be at 5 pm tomorrow. The session will begin under the chairmanship of Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.
President Mohammad Shahabuddin convened the 23rd session of Parliament under the powers given to him under Article 72 Clause (1) of the Constitution. Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will present the national budget for the next financial year on June 1. The proposed budget is expected to be passed in Parliament on June 25.
An official of the Ministry of Finance said that the possible budget size will be Tk 761,785 crore in order to control inflation and maintain high GDP growth rate.
The government is currently targeting a growth rate of 7.5 per cent in the next fiscal year with inflation at around 6.5 per cent. The total investment target for next year will be 33.8 percent of GDP. Source: BSS
