Anwara representative: A woman insurance officer was raped in Anwara upazila. The police arrested three accused in the incident. On Saturday (May 27) night, they were arrested in Gundip Para of Barshat Union of the upazila.
Before this, the victim filed a complaint against the bank official, accusing Mohammad Naeem (20), Farhad Ali (21), Mohammad Raju (25), Md. Arif (25) of upazila Barshat Union, and two unknown persons.
According to the complaint, the consumer works for Prime Islami Life Insurance Company. On May 24 (Wednesday), he left his home in Chakaria in Cox’s Bazar district and reached the Barshat area of Anwara upazila around 10:40 PM. When the victim boarded a CNG auto-rickshaw to go to the shrine, the CNG driver called the accused and took her to an abandoned building on the east side of Jame Masjid in Haji Amir Ali Bari, Gundip, and raped her several times in turn till 5 a.m. the next morning. Later in the morning, the accused dropped him off at an unknown place and fled. Later, the victim spoke to the locals and lodged a complaint with the police.
Anwara police station OC Mirza Muhammad Hasan said three people have been arrested after receiving a complaint. Efforts are underway to arrest the rest. A case has been registered at the police station in this regard.
