Dhaka Bureau: Chinese Vice Minister Sun Weidong has arrived in Dhaka on a two-day visit. Weidong came to Dhaka with a delegation to participate in the Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) meeting at the Foreign Secretary level. Vice Minister Weidong arrived in Dhaka at 11:25 p.m. on Friday (March 26).
When Hazrat Shahjalal arrived at the International Airport, he was welcomed by the Director General of the East Asia and Pacific Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tawfiq Hasan, and the Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka, Yao Wen.
Weidong came to Bangladesh for the first time after taking charge as vice minister.
According to the program of the Chinese Vice Minister’s visit to Dhaka, he will participate in the FOC meeting between Bangladesh and China on Saturday (May 27). Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, on behalf of Dhaka, and Vice Minister Weidong, on behalf of Beijing, will lead their respective countries in the FOC.
The Chinese Vice Minister, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen are supposed to have a courtesy call. Apart from paying tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at number 32 of Dhanmondi, the Vice Minister of China will also visit the Padma Bridge.
