A Pakistani diplomat narrowly escaped in Brahmanbaria

Brahmanbaria Correspondent: The Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan posted in Bangladesh and his family members narrowly escaped with their lives in Brahmanbaria. On Friday afternoon, on the way to Srimangal from Moulvibazar, a passenger bus collided head-on with the vehicle carrying them in the Rampur area of Brahmanbaria’s Vijaynagar upazila on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. The Deputy High Commissioner’s car was overturned, but the family survived.

Sarail Khantihata Highway Police Station OC Akul Chandra Biswas said that Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan Qamar Abbas Khokhar was driving a private car from Dhaka with his wife Rehena Sarwar Khokhar, son Mohammad Khokhar, and daughter Huda Abbas Khokhar to Srimangal in Moulvibazar. When the vehicle carrying them reached the side of Rampur Bridge on the highway, it collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound Durant Paribahan passenger bus (Dhaka Metro-B-13-19-32) coming from the opposite direction (Habiganj). This causes the front part of the car to twist.

After receiving the information, the highway police rushed to the spot and rescued them. In this incident, the bus driver said Saiful Islam (30) was arrested along with the bus. He is in Habiganj district. Son of Shafiqul Islam. Later, the Deputy High Commissioner and his family members left for Moulvibazar in another car. The OC said that a case is being filed in this incident.
