Netrakona Correspondent: Angry activists of the Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League have set fire to the district BNP office and vandalized the furniture in protest against the threat to kill Prime Minister and Awami League Chairperson Sheikh Hasina.
On Monday (May 22), around 11:30 a.m., they set fire to the district BNP office in the Chotabazar area of the city, along with vandalizing furniture. Locals said that some leaders and activists of the Awami League broke the lock of the BNP office and set fire to it by taking out furniture. Later, local businessmen tried to extinguish the fire.
At the same time, as part of the nationwide program, a protest march led by the Netrakona district Awami League from the party office in Chotabazar went around the main road of the city. Later, District Awami League General Secretary Shamchur Rahman Liton, Bhajan Sarkar, and others addressed a short rally in front of the party office.
In addition to the Awami League, the leaders and activists of the Jubo League, Chhatra League, Matsyajeevi League, and other allied organizations participated in the procession. Also, a protest march was held in the court area by the district Bangabandhu Awami Parishad. The leaders of the rally demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment for those who threatened to kill.
