The Crime Desk: Claiming that there has been extraordinary development in Bangladesh as democracy has continued for the past 14 years, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the United States may not want her in power and has banned the special security forces of Bangladesh.

Sheikh Hasina said these things in an exclusive interview with the BBC’s Yalda Hakim during her recent visit to the UK.

Denying the system of autocracy or dictatorship that has been developed in Bangladesh by various international human rights organizations, he said that only in the last 14 years has there been a real democratic system in the country, so we are able to improve.

The BBC asked him why he thinks the United States has banned RAB, a special security force in Bangladesh.

In this context, Sheikh Hasina said that the force they have banned was established in 2004 on their advice. All their training and equipment were provided by the United States. I believe they are working the way they have built the army. So why did they ban this? This is a big question for me, too.

Yalda Hakim wants to know about Sheikh Hasina; why do they think they did it?

He said, I don’t know. Maybe they don’t want my work to continue, or maybe they can’t accept the improvements I have made for Bangladesh. This is my feeling. At one point, terrorism became a problem for all countries. We have controlled terrorism in our country. Only one thing happened after that. Our law enforcement forces have worked hard to maintain control.

The BBC’s Yalda Hakim presents a statistic on gunfights in Bangladesh before the US sanctions.

In 2018, 466 people were killed in gun battles with law and order forces before the ban was imposed. In 2019, 388 people were killed in this way, and in 2020, 188 people were killed. But after the ban, this number has come down to only 15 people.

In response, Sheikh Hasina said that they could not prove the numbers they mentioned. In most cases, these killings were not committed by law enforcement agencies. Because we wanted evidence, send it; we will investigate.

In a documentary by the German news media, Deutsche Welle, two RAB leakers claimed that the orders for these killings came from the highest levels of government.

When this information was presented, Sheikh Hasina said, I don’t know how they did it, but you can see what is happening in America. There are multiple murders happening almost every day. Even murders are happening in schools, shopping malls, and restaurants. Even school students and common people are being killed either by law enforcement forces or armed men.

He also said, ‘I think the United States should be more focused on themselves. What is the state of their country? They should protect children’s lives. They are not taking enough care of their own people. We asked them for proof of the allegations they made. They did not give

The Prime Minister also said, I think sanctions and counter-sanctions are like a game. It is still not clear to me why they banned our country. Source: BBC
