Basically, he is under the umbrella of Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma (Santhu Larma), Chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Regional Council. Nathan Bam’s armed forces are involved in not only extortion but also rape and torture of women. Because of them, there is panic among the hilly Bengalis in the hilly areas.
Four armed terrorist groups—JSS (Core), JSS (Reformed), UPDF (Core), and UPDF (Reformed)—are currently active in the rugged hills, including Rangamati, Bandarban, and Khagrachari. The main work of these four organizations is extortion and creating fear among people. Nathan Bom is the new threat of murder, terrorism, and extortion in Bandarban.
They cannot accept being on the territory of independent, sovereign Bangladesh. They have automatic weapons. In case of anything, they take shelter across the border. KNF was founded by Nathan Bom with the help of a top leader of JSS in the name of getting the rights of these five communities: Khumi, Lusai, Kheang, Pankhwaa, and Mro. In the name of training militants and with the intention of earning a huge amount of money, Gahin set up training centers in the forest. He also signed training agreements with militant leaders. But the training at that center could not be sustained for long. The training camp was destroyed by law enforcement forces, including RAB. After the militant training was caught, Nathan Bom’s misdeeds came out one after the other. They are also involved in illegal arms trafficking. Nathan Bamra was a family to eat from day to day.
Meanwhile, hill-Bengali community leaders said that after four terrorists were killed by rival groups in Bandarban in a fight to share extortion money and dominate, a conspiratorial circle indulged in propaganda as part of poaching fish in murky waters. Chittagong Hill Tracts are the arena of extortionists and the paradise of terrorists. Bloody clashes and deaths are taking place between terrorist organizations in this region, constantly focusing on the distribution of extortion money and expansion of dominance. The real proof of that is the shooting incident between an armed terrorist organization and the rival Kuki Chin National Front (KNF) in Rawangchari of Bandarban Hill District last Monday afternoon. Later, the members of the law and order forces recovered the bullet-ridden bodies of three people from the spot. The terrorists killed are Nemthang Bom and Lal Lian, who provide various information and markets or logistics on a motorcycle working in Ganaline, and Sim Lian, an armed toll collector. They all belong to the Bam community. And all the young people of Bam are associated with KNA. They have also been found to be directly involved with the ‘KNF’, which is engaged in an armed struggle to separate the Chittagong Hill Tracts from the mainland of Bangladesh and create a separate state.
According to local sources and law enforcement forces, due to the distribution of extortion money and expansion of dominance, the gunfight between two terrorist groups, the armed organization United Democratic Front (Democratic) or the Mog Nivration Party, and the separatist Kuki Chin National Army (KNA) in Paikhyongpara of Sadar Union of Rowangchhari Upazila, is In the morning, hundreds of rounds of gunfire were exchanged between the gunmen of both sides of the armed organizations. Meanwhile, panic spread in the surrounding areas after the shooting. People started leaving the area. At that time, after receiving information from the locals, the members of the law and order forces recovered the bullet-ridden bodies of three people from the spot. Local residents said, “The bodies of three people have been identified. The victims were associated with the terrorist group KNA, which has created an unstable environment in Bandarban in recent times. They also worked with KNF.
An eyewitness named Debit Bam among the residents said, “Nemthang Bam, Lal Lian, and Sim Lian were the sources of KNA in that area for a long time and were oppressing innocent people with extortion, kidnapping, murder, and disappearance.” They acted as a source for the KNF terrorists’ mass lines, collected information behind the wheel of hired motorcycles and passed it on to KNF intelligence advisor Lt. Fleming, and were often seen with armed groups. Locals said that they were also seen collecting donations from Ruma Bazaar and Border Road Project contractors. They have been seen with KNF founding president Nathan Baum in past years. Besides, they were engaged in logistics, marketing, and the supply of daily necessities for KNF in Ruma and Thanchi Likri. Law enforcers, construction workers, contractors, and tourists used to provide information to the KNF whenever they entered Rowanchari, Ruma, and Thanchi roads. Among them, Nemthang did a motorcycle drill with weapons an hour and a half before the shooting incident.
According to Debit Bomb, those killed were affiliated with the KNF. They were basically working as a source of ganaline between renting motorcycles, and it was found that they were engaged in logistics, including subscription collection. Besides, locals and police sources said that no one came to collect the bodies of the dead terrorists after the post-mortem. So the body is left in the morgue for a long time. It is obvious that the deceased were associated with the KNF, so no one came to collect the bodies for fear of litigation. After confirming the identity of the dead terrorists, the body was brought to the village headman.
Confirming the truth of the incident, several officials of the local administration said that three people were killed in the shooting between two groups of armed terrorists. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the village headman.
