The wave height around the center of ‘Moka’ is 49 feet

DHAKA BUREAU: The frontal part of ‘Cyclone Moka’ may start crossing Saint Martin Island after 3 p.m. on Saturday. Currently, the cyclone is located at 15.60 degrees north latitude. Located at 89.4 degrees longitude. The average wind speed at its center is 259 kilometers per hour. That momentum will increase throughout the day today. The height of the waves generated around the center is 49 feet, said Mustafa Kamal Palash, a PhD researcher in meteorology and climate at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada.

He gave this information in a post on Facebook on Saturday (May 13) morning.

After developing into a cyclone, it has the highest risk of making landfall over Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, and Myanmar’s Rakhine state. Wind speeds at landfall may reach 212 kilometers per hour. While passing over the coast of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar districts, the coastal areas of these two districts are likely to be inundated by a 12-foot high tide.

The moving speed of this gust is 11 kilometers per hour. It is moving north-east. At the center of the cyclone, the air pressure value is 955 millibars.

It is reported that the center of this cyclone is likely to cross Saint Martin Island and Cox’s Bazar district between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday. It may take until Sunday midnight for the effects of the cyclone to dissipate over the island.
