Jubo League leader Jamal was killed and three others arrested

Comilla Correspondent: Police have arrested three more people in connection with the murder of Jubo League leader Jamal in Comilla. They were arrested in various places in Dhaka and Narayanganj. Meanwhile, the car used in the murder, the burka, hijab, and two pairs of canvas suits used by the killers were seized.

District Police Superintendent Abdul Mannan gave this information in a press conference held at the district police superintendent’s office on Monday, May 8.

The three arrested are Mohammad Ravi, son of deceased Kalu, of Jiarkandi village of Titas upazila; Mohammad Shahparan, son of deceased Asad Mia, of the same area; and Sumon Hossain, son of Shamsul Haque, of Lalpur Purva Para village of Titas upazila. Earlier, RAB arrested three accused in this case from different areas of Dhaka and Chittagong. A total of six people were arrested in Comilla’s sensational Jubo League leader Jamal’s murder case.

Jamal Hossain, a resident of Jiarkandi village in Titas upazila and joint convener of the Upazila Jubo League, was shot dead by three hooded miscreants in Gauripur West Bazar of Daudkandi Upazila of Comilla at around 8:30 p.m. on April 30. Popi Akhter, the wife of the deceased Jamal, filed a case in the name of nine people and seven to eight unidentified people in the Daudkandi police station at 11:30 p.m. on May 2.

In the press conference, the District Superintendent of Police said that after the murder, initially all the CCTV footage around the scene was collected, and the footage was analyzed to identify the three people wearing burqas. The way in and out of the accused’s place was identified. On the night of the incident, Mohammad Sumon, the driver of the black Hiace car used by the accused, was arrested from Madanpur in Narayanganj. His car was impounded, his house was searched, and two pairs of canvas Sue and Suman trousers used by the burqa-clad accused during the incident were seized, he said. Also, Mohammad Shahparan and Mohammad Ravi were arrested in DMP Dhaka’s Malibag Chowdhurypara area. Arrested Shahapran stayed in Dhaka during the incident, communicated with the accused who were present at the scene before and after the incident, and gave full cooperation in remaining in hiding. He is the brother-in-law of Ali Hasan, accused No. 8 in the murder case.

On the other hand, accused No. 9 in the arrested Ravi case is Kala Monir’s brother. He stayed around the scene, giving information to the shooters and helping them escape.

Superintendent of Police Abdul Mannan said that the accused arrested in the sensational Jamal murder will be produced in court and seven remands will be sought. Additional Superintendent of Police Ashfakuzzaman, Additional Superintendent of Police Sadar Circle Kamran Hossain, DB OC Rajesh Barua, and others were present in the press conference.
