Dhaka Bureau: Another fire incident has occurred at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The fire took place in the nurses’ dressing room in Ward No. 310 on the third floor of the external part of the hospital. However, there was no major damage or casualty.
The fire is said to have started on Monday (May 8) around 5:30 p.m. Three units from the fire service headquarters went to the hospital on the news of the fire. However, before reaching them, the hospital staff and the patient’s relatives extinguished the fire.
In charge of the police camp at the hospital (inspector). Bachchu Mia said there is a changing room for nurses (nurses) in the balcony of ward number 310. Inside that room is a smaller room. Where some goods, including oxygen cylinders, were kept. The fire happened there. However, the hospital staff and patients’ relatives extinguished the fire by pouring fire extinguishers and water.
The relative of the patient admitted to bed number 58 of the ward Jasim said they saw smoke coming out of the balcony around 4:50 p.m. Then all the patients started running in panic. Then some of them poured water and brought the fire under control.
Nasreen Akhter, the nurse in charge of ward number 310, said that the room next to the balcony is their dressing room. There is another small room inside the room. There were tables with oxygen cylinders, clothes, and an electric table fan. That table fan is completely burned. According to him, the fire starts in the shot circuit.
