Md. Ayub Miyaji, Chandnaish: The houses of 22 families in Dohazari Masterghona have been cracked under the government’s third phase of providing houses to landless families and the Shelter-2 project.
On the surface, house No. 4 out of 22 houses Monir, House No. 9 Lucky Akhtar, House No. 11 Saju Akhtar, House No. 12 Ferdous Alam, House No. 16 Jalilur Rahman, House No. 18 Md. Ibrahim, and House No. 19 have cracks in Minu Akhtar’s house in various parts. Moreover, residents are afraid to live in the house due to the small cracks in all the houses. Meanwhile, Minu Akhtar and Saju Akhtar’s house has a big crack, and they spend the night in fear. On June 20, 2021, the Prime Minister officially gave land and semi-furnished houses to 51 homeless families in the third phase. Meanwhile, houses were distributed to 51 families, including 22 families in the Dohazari Masterghona area and 29 families on the banks of the Shankh River near Bailtali Khodarhat.
MP Nazrul Islam Chowdhury formally handed over house keys and land documents to the beneficiaries among 51 landless and homeless families in Chandnaish Upazila under the chairmanship of former Upazila Executive Officer Sadia Islam. Upazila Chairman Abdul Jabbar Chowdhury and Chandnaish Municipality Mayor Mahbubul Alam Khoka were special guests on the occasion.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mahfuza Zerin delivered the welcome speech. After 1 year and 10 months, the people who bought the house are in trouble due to cracks in the house. Due to cracks in the house, several families are not living even after getting a house. Although there are two deep tubewells in the shelter project, one of them has broken down, and a shortage of drinking and consumption water has also appeared.
Beneficiary of the project Minu Akhtar said that she is very happy to get the house given by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. But due to construction defects, the house got cracked, and he spent the night with his boys and girls in fear. Saju Akhter said he informed the administration about the cracks in the house, and they will repair them. Upazila Executive Officer and Dohazari Municipal Administrator Mahmuda Begum said that he has come to know about the matter. The municipality said that they will take measures to repair the cracked houses quickly with the baraddha.
