Own Correspondent: Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail has joined as Chairman of the Chittagong Port Authority. He gained wide recognition across the country by serving as the Director of the Legal and Media Wing of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Headquarters.
On Tuesday (May 2), he took over as chairman, said Chittagong Port Secretary Md. Omar Farooq.
According to a press release of the Chittagong Port Authority (Chabak), Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail Payra was serving as the Chairman of the Port Authority. On April 12, he was informed about his transfer to Chittagong port in a circular of the Ministry of Public Administration. Mohammad Sohail replaced the outgoing Chairman of Chittagong Port, Rear Admiral M. Shahjahan. Before joining the Chawak Chairmanship, he was serving as the Chairman of the Payra Port Authority.
Mohammad Sohail, who was commissioned in the Navy on January 1, 1988, is an anti-submarine warfare specialist officer, the press release said. He attended the War Game Simulation Course in Canada, the Naval Staff Course from the Defense Services Command and Staff College, Dhaka, and the Naval Staff Course from the Defense Services Staff, India.
He served as captain on the Navy ships Durant, Anibarna, Tamjid, and Barka. He also served as Staff Officer at Naval Headquarters and Area Headquarters, Director, Junior Staff Course, Warfare Instructor in the School of Maritime Warfare and Tactics, Directing Staff, and Senior Instructor (Navy), Defense Services Command and Staff College.
He also served in the United Nations Mission in Sudan. Apart from Elite Force, Mohammad Sohail served as Counter Terrorism Intelligence Bureau (CITB), DGFI Headquarters Internal Affairs Bureau (IAB), and Director Naval Headquarters as Colonel GS of Submarines.
