Satkania Correspondent: 14 houses were burned to ashes due to an electrical short-circuit fire in Satkania, Chittagong. The incident took place on Tuesday (May 2) around 4 p.m. in Ward No. 3 Garibarjhil area of Sadar Union of the upazila. The victims claimed that the fire caused a loss of 2 crore rupees.
The victims of the fire are Golam Mohiuddin Babul (72), Liaquat Ali (55), Anwar Hossain (58), Abul Hasem (75), Mohiuddin (40), Charwar Hossain (55), Khorshed Alam Bhutt (58), Amanat Kha (50), Mahmudul Haque (35), Ziabul Haque (58), Hafez Manzoor Quader (52), Mujibul Haque (68), Md. Salim, and Rafiqul Islam (65).
Eyewitnesses said that a fire broke out in the house of Mohiuddin Babul of Garibarjhil, in the Sadar Union of the upazila, on Tuesday afternoon. Within moments, the fire spread to nearby houses. Meanwhile, several gas cylinders exploded. Basically, the fire spread quickly after the cylinder exploded. The fire was brought under control after 2 hours of fire service and local public efforts.
Senior Station Officer of Satkania Fire Service Humayun Karnayen said that after receiving the information about the fire, they went to the spot and controlled the fire. Initially, it was believed that the fire may have started due to an electrical disturbance. The extent of the damage from the fire is not known. However, 14 houses were damaged.
Chairman of the Sadar Union Salim Uddin confirmed the matter of the fire and said that we will systematically help and cooperate with the government and private initiatives as far as possible.
