Dhaka Bureau: The Election Commissioner (EC) said that the people of the ruling party are breaking the election rules. Alamgir. He said those who are in the government break the code of conduct. We expect those in government to behave more responsibly. For the sake of fair elections, the responsibility of the government party is also high, along with that of the election commission.
He said this while talking to reporters at his office in the Agargaon election building on Sunday (April 30).
EC Md. Alamgir said, “We have decided that we will give a letter to the Cabinet Secretary. He should at least request that those who are ministers, state ministers, or parliamentarians with the consent of appropriate authorities not violate any code of conduct.
The EC said that all candidates must comply with the electoral code of conduct. Alamgir said that despite repeated requests from the commission to follow the rules, there is a tendency among some to not follow the code of conduct. In that case, various clips and media sources are coming to us. I see a tendency among some candidates or candidates’ well-wishers not to follow the code of conduct.
In the upcoming Gazipur City Corporation election, the Awami League candidate had a showdown while filing the nomination papers; the EC said that the Awami League candidate would be given a show cause notice by the EC. An explanation will be sought as to why Azmat Ullah Sahib violated the code of conduct. He should come to the commission and explain.
Since the Awami League is the government party, we will also write to the general secretary of this party to request that the Gasik election be held before the parliamentary election; their responsibility is a little more for this election to be acceptable and neutral to all.
