Dhaka Bureau: Cyclone Moka is going to form in the Bay of Bengal. The fear of this cyclone hitting the coast of West Bengal or Bangladesh is very strong. However, meteorologists say that it is not possible to make a specific forecast about this storm for a few more days.

As per the forecast so far, a cyclone will form on May 8. It will move northward and take the form of a cyclonic storm on May 10. The center of the storm will make landfall in Myanmar’s Arakan province on May 12.

He said, ‘This storm has many similarities with Cyclone Amphan of 2020. In the case of Amphan, the cyclone formed several days after the forecast. The cyclone that formed on May 13, 2020, later took the form of Amphan. Second, the incoming storm vortex may form almost where the Amphan vortex formed. Moreover, the initial forecast for Amphan said that the storm may go to Bangladesh or Myanmar. But later it hit the coast of West Bengal.’

He also said, ‘There is a difference in weather conditions this year compared to 2020. As a result, nothing can be said for sure in advance. However, people in coastal areas should make preliminary preparations for the storm. Especially when the crops and mango-litchi ripen, they should be marketed, and the price should be raised as much as possible. If they sell at the last minute, they may not get the right price.
