Dhaka Bureau: The government’s March-April two-month campaign to protect Hilsa ended today, on Sunday. Around 45,000 registered fishermen in Chandpur have gone down to the river to catch hilsa since 12:00 p.m. Earlier on Saturday (April 29), they spent a busy time repairing net boats.
Many fishermen said that they are complying with the government’s ban for the two months of March and April. At that time, they did not go down to fish in the river. They received the rice given by the government.
