Dhaka Bureau: Bangladesh has taken various contemporary steps including the formulation of cultural policy to protect cultural heritage. It applies to all citizens of Bangladesh irrespective of religion, caste, caste, group. The protection of cultural heritage has also been given considerable importance in the constitution of our country. State Minister for Culture KM Khalid MP said these things in his speech as a representative of the observer country at the council meeting of the General Assembly of the ‘Asian Alliance on Cultural Heritage’ in Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province, China, this Monday (April 24) afternoon.

The State Minister of Culture said that Bangladesh has already ratified several international conventions, protocols, charters and guidelines of UNESCO for the protection of cultural heritage. He said that Bangladesh has cultural exchange agreements and memorandum of understanding with 44 countries.

KM Khalid said that the present government led by Bangladesh Awami League has prioritized the conservation and protection of cultural heritage and we are presenting them in the world forum. He expressed his opinion that the establishment of the Asian Alliance for Cultural Heritage (ACHA) will further our collective efforts to protect the cultural heritage of Bangladesh as well as the Asian continent, which will in turn help build a culturally balanced sustainable Bangladesh and Asia.

The Minister of State thanked and thanked the ACHA Council for the inclusion of Bangladesh as an Observer State and congratulated all the new Member States and Observer States of ACHA.

It should be noted that at the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations held in May 2019, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed an international initiative to preserve cultural heritage across Asia. The ‘Asian Dialogue on Cultural Heritage Preservation’ was successfully organized from 27 to 28 October 2021 and the representative of Bangladesh participated in the online dialogue.

During the dialogue, ten Asian countries including China, Armenia, Cambodia, DPRK (North Korea), Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Yemen jointly established the Alliance for Cultural Heritage in Asia (ACHA) or ‘Asian Alliance for Cultural Heritage’. Take initiative.

To consolidate ACHA as an intergovernmental system for cultural heritage cooperation among Asian countries, China hosted the ACHA Founding Assembly from April 24 to 26 in Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province, where cultural and heritage authorities from 20 Asian countries. About 100 representatives including ministerial level officials, representatives of international organizations and experts from relevant institutions are participating.
