Dhaka Bureau: On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the National Eidgah will have flawless security. Apart from this, the pilgrims who come to pray cannot bring any kind of bag or material except for Zaynamaz, DMP Commissioner Khandkar Ghulam Farooq said. He said this to the journalists present after inspecting the security measures taken by the DMP at the National Eidgah Maidan at 10 am on Friday (April 21).
Greeting the respected citizens on Eid, the DMP Commissioner said that the holy Eid-ul-Fitr is going to be celebrated in Bangladesh tomorrow, Saturday. On that occasion, lakhs of Muslims across Bangladesh will perform the holy Eid-ul-Fitr prayers. Eid congregations will be held in numerous places in Dhaka city. Among them, one of the largest Eid congregations will be held at the National Eidgah. Many honorable citizens of the country including His Excellency the President, many important persons of the state, secretaries of the Council of Ministers, diplomats, foreign diplomats, Chief Justice and other judges will come to pray at the National Eidgah. About 35,000 people can pray together in this Eidgah field.
About the security measures taken, he said, “4-level security measures have been taken in the National Eidgah area. In advance, sweeping is being done with DMP’s bomb disposal unit, CTTC’s dog squad. Adequate number of plainclothes police will be deployed along with uniformed police. The entire area will be covered by CCTV cameras. Real time monitoring of CCTV cameras will be done from the temporary control room installed at the National Eidgah. Archway gate has been installed at the National Eidgah. For the sake of security, every worshiper must enter the Eid congregation through the archway gate.
The DMP Commissioner requested the worshipers coming to the Eidgah congregation to come a little earlier than the scheduled time due to the time required for the search. Everyone will be searched before entering the Eidgah, so even if there is a long line at the gate, he requested everyone to be patient and cooperate with the police.
In a question and answer to the journalists, the DMP Commissioner said that there is no specific threat against the Eid congregation. The largest Eid congregation will be held here, so we have this security system.
