Gaibandha Correspondent: A youth named Shakeel Khan (24), who committed ‘suicide’ by jumping under a train after going live on Facebook in Gaibandha, After one month of marriage, Shakil made various allegations against the in-laws.
The incident took place on Saturday (April 8) night in the stadium area of the railway line near Gaibandha railway station (south). On receiving information, the railway police recovered his body.
The deceased Shakeel Khan is the son of Bachchu Khan of Bhagbanpur village in the Ramchandrapur Union of Gaibandha Sadar Upazila.
An hour before jumping under the train, Shakeel came live on his Facebook ID on Saturday afternoon and accused his in-laws of threatening and beating him due to a marital dispute.
In the 18-second video of Facebook Live, Shakil Khan introduced the name of his village and the identity of his parents after greeting him. After that, he cried and said that he got married a month ago. Marital strife has been going on since marriage. He mentioned that the in-laws were threatening him. Then the live stream stopped.
Shakeel’s father complains that Shakeel’s wife is staying at his father’s house due to marital discord. When the locals tried to settle the matter, her in-laws refused.
Locals said that Shakeel wandered on the railroad line in the stadium area earlier in the evening. He jumped under the Rangpur Express train leaving Dhaka in the evening.
Setafur Rahman, in-charge of the Gaibandha outpost of the Railway Police, said, “The body of the young man was kept in the outpost after recovery. Later, the relatives identified the body around 8 p.m.
He also said that the body was sent to Gaibandha General Hospital for autopsy on Sunday morning. A case of wrongful death has been registered at the Bonarpara Railway Police Station in Gaibandha.
