Dhaka Bureau: A few hours after the incident, the angry crowd attacked the head office of the Fire Service and Civil Defense, accusing them of not being able to control the fire in the capital’s Bangabazar. The incident happened on April 4 around 9:15 a.m.

At least 11 cars inside the office were damaged by the bricks and stones thrown by the angry crowd. Some firemen were also beaten up.

Eyewitnesses and several businessmen of Bangabazar said that the fire started in Bangabazar at 6:10 in the morning that day. Fire service arrived at the scene at 6:12.

Several traders say that the main office of the fire service is located on the opposite side of the accident site on Kazi Alauddin Road in Old Dhaka. But their complaint of irresponsibility has been noticed even though the fire service arrived on time. They did not take the fire seriously at first. That’s why such a big accident happened.

Businessmen also complained that there was no water in the fire service pump. However, they claimed that they were not involved in the attack.
