Around 5,500 shops were burned in the Bangabazar fire

Dhaka Bureau: Around 5,500 shops have been damaged in a fire in Bangabazar, in Gulisthan, of the capital. It caused an estimated loss of two thousand crores of rupees. Helal Uddin, president of the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association, told reporters this information.

On Tuesday (April 4), when he visited the spot, he said, according to our knowledge, there are about 2500 shops in Bangabazar Wood Market alone. Here, small traders set up shop. Eid ahead. Everyone has picked up goods for Eid-centric shopping. During the Eid season, the traders suffered huge losses due to fire.

He said that the goods in the shop are the capital of the traders. If the goods are burned, their capital is all gone. Now we are demanding from the government an initial allocation of 700 crore rupees to compensate for the loss of Eid-centered business during Ramadan.

According to the latest news, the fire was brought under control at 12:36 p.m. Earlier, the fire service received information about the fire at 6:10 this morning. The first unit of the fire service arrived at the scene at 6:12 am. 48 units are working to control the fire.

Army, Air Force, Police, Ansar, BGB, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), Fire Service and Civil Defense Directorate (FSCD), volunteers, RAB, volunteers, shop owners, employees, and locals joined the fire service in controlling the fire.
