The editor of Prothom Alo got bail

Dhaka Bureau: The High Court granted six weeks’ bail to Prothom Alo editor Matiur Rahman in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

Sunday (April 2), Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md. The High Court bench, comprising Aminul Islam, passed the order. Earlier, Prothom Alo editor Matiur Rahman applied for anticipatory bail in this case of Ramna police station. After the hearing, the High Court granted anticipatory bail for six weeks.

Prothom Alo editor Matiur Rahman, Savar’s own correspondent Shamsuzzaman Shams, an associate cameraman, and unknown persons were charged under the Digital Security Act. Last Wednesday around 11 p.m., a person named Advocate Abdul Moshiur Malek filed this case in the Ramna Police Station of the capital as a plaintiff.

25 (2), 31, and 35 of the Digital Security Act, the accused have used print and electronic media to malign the image or reputation of the state and spread false information to spread misinformation, according to the complaint.

When asked whether Law Minister Barrister Anisul Haque has given any instructions regarding the case under the Digital Security Act, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said, “You see.” Wet & C.’
