Dhaka Bureau: The Ministry of Social Welfare is giving special awards to 10 individuals and 3 organizations in five categories this year for their special contributions to autism.
Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed said this at a press conference organized on the occasion of the 16th World Autism Awareness Day 2023 at the Secretariat’s Information Directorate conference room today. At that time, Social Welfare State Minister Md Ashraf Ali Khan Khosru, Social Welfare Secretary Jahangir Alam, and Chief Information Officer Md Shahenur Mia were present.
The Minister said that this year, the Ministry of Social Welfare has taken extensive preparations to celebrate Autism Awareness Day 2023, keeping in mind the theme of building a neuro-friendly, inclusive world for all on the journey of transformation. As part of the celebration, blue lights will be lit for two nights on April 1, 2023, in all important government buildings and establishments, including the Secretariat. Blue lights will also be lit at Bangladesh embassies and missions abroad. A discussion meeting and cultural program have been organized at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Sunday, April 2.
This year, 10 individuals and 3 organizations are receiving special honors in five categories for their special contributions to autism. They will be awarded on the day of the event.
Category-A: Successful individuals with autism traits (3 people); In this category, Abdullah Al Nafi Antar won first place in the essay writing competition on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s childhood organized by NDD Trust. Besides, he acts, recites, and presents. Fabliha Azim, RTV’s brand ambassador, and the Prime Minister’s Eid greeting card in 2022 Taif Mustafa.
Category-B: Institutions working tirelessly for the development and protection of the autistic community (3;) are honored in the A category: Trinamool Pratibandi Rehab Sansthan (TPPS), Naogaon Ambati Mentally Handicapped and Autistic School, and Aditamari Mentally Handicapped and Autistic School.
Category-C: Individuals working tirelessly for the development and protection of the population with autism (3 persons); Md. Ziaul Haque, Dr. Zakir Hossain, and Professor Dr. Shaheen Akhtar are getting honors in this category.
Category-D: Successful parents with autism traits (2 people); Nusrat Sharmin and Dr. fall into this category. Nachima Islam Chowdhury is receiving the rain award.
Category-E: Caregivers (2 persons); Deleted Sonia Akhter and Monica Maria Rosario are also receiving honors in this category.
