Own Correspondent: The Bangladesh Coast Guard recovered the body of Chinese engineer Zhang Mingyan (43), 3 days after he went missing in the sea, from the ship anchored outside Chittagong port.
His body was recovered on Friday morning (March 31). Earlier, he went missing after falling from the ship on March 28. The accident occurred when 16 sailors on that ship were drilling the lifeboat. Chittagong Port Authority (Chawak) Deputy Conservator Md. Faridul Alam confirmed this information.
Faridul Alam said that the search team of the Bangladesh Coast Guard East Zone recovered the body of Chief Engineer Zhang Mingyan (43) of the Chinese ship MV Cang Huan from the Anandbazar canal in Halishahar around 9:30 this morning.
Quoting the ship’s local agents and officials, he said that the lifeboat with 16 crew members sank in the water after the rope broke while drilling in the Alpha area of Bahirnong last Tuesday at 3:10 p.m.
15 sailors were rescued alive with the help of the Coast Guard, port rescue team Chawak, and local sailors. However, Zhang Mingyan has been missing since the incident.
Faridul Alam also said that the body of the deceased will be taken to Halishahar police station through a shipping agent for an autopsy. Then GD will be done in the event of his death.
