ACC raid at Raipur sub-registry office

Lakshmipur Correspondent: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) raided the Raipur sub-registry office following allegations of irregularities, bribery, a8 p.m.nd public harassment. A team led by Ataur Rahman, Assistant Director of ACC Chandpur IntegOffice,Office conducted the operatiWednesday,nsday (Ma,ch 29) fp.m.m 1 pm to evening. At that time, 3 people, including office sweeper Sohel, were interrogated, and their statements were recorded. Later, ACC seized the mobile phone used by Sohail.
  
According to the concerned sources, it is alleged against Sohail, a temporary appointee, that extra money was collected for recording the land in Raipur sub-registry office, for duplicating the documents, and for searching the documents. Sohail has been carrying on this crime for a long time with a syndicate consisting of brokers inside and outside the sub-registry office. Being close to the sub-registrar, he used to do these misdeeds and collect bribes from the office assistant’s chair.
 
Meanwhile, a source in the sub-registry office, on condition of anonymity, said that under the leadership of Jharudar Sohail, 10 percent of the government registration and incidental expenses were collected from the recipients of the documents. The Raipur sub-registrar registers land in the registry office only two days a week.
 
Upazila Executive Officer Anjan Dash said, “We have heard about Duduk’s raid on the sub-registry office. Any department of the government can conduct an ACC investigation on allegations of various irregularities.
 
Assistant Director Ataur Rahman in the Raipur sub-registry office admitted the truth of this operation and said, ‘The facts of the involvement of many people, including Sohail, in the bribery and corruption of the registry office have been found to be true. The statements of the employees, including the district sub-registrar, were recorded. The matter will be reported to the higher authorities in the form of a report. The district sub-registrar has been asked to take action against Sohail. Sohail’s phone has been seized for further evidence.
