Finally, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) recovered the body of missing child Abida Sultana Ayani (10) in the Pahartali police station area of Chittagong city.
On March 29, after nine days of disappearance, the body was recovered from Abdur Kazi’s Dighirpara area police station. Investigators believe that Ayani was killed after being raped.
However, after the victim’s disappearance, the victim’s mother, Bibi Fatema, approached the Pahartali police station several times to rescue her child. Meanwhile, the accused, Rubel (35), told the police that she had taken her child. But the Pahartali police station did not even take a case without listening to the mother’s complaint. Desperate, the child’s mother filed a case in court. The court heard the complaint and directed the OC of the police station to file regular cases. The court order has not yet reached the police station. In the meantime, the specialized agency of the police, PBI, recovered the body of Shishu Ayani.
According to the concerned sources, the victim’s mother contacted the Chittagong PBI office after not getting any remedy from the police station. After hearing the complaint, the PBI officials took the accused Rubel into custody on Tuesday. He was then interrogated overnight. But somehow Rubel was not opening his mouth. He opened his mouth at one stage in the early hours of the night during continuous interrogation by PBI officials. He said that he killed the child, Ayani. Put his body in a sack and throw it in a nearby pond. PBI officials immediately went on a raid and recovered Ayani’s body.
On the ground, it can be seen that a large number of people gathered in Abdur Kazi’s Dighirpara area of Pahartali police station on Wednesday morning during the recovery of the body. The victim’s child’s mother and her close relatives also came to the scene. They all demanded the execution of the accused Rubel.
Meanwhile, the victim’s mother lamented and said, “I told the police that Rubel took my child.” But on the contrary, they tell me that Rubel is a good boy. Cannot work on rubles. Your daughter loves How does my 10-year-old daughter love? you say? Now my chest is empty. Who will read my daughter’s clothes? I used to buy sweets for my daughter when I got a salary. Who will buy now? Rubel killed my only daughter like this!
The Special Superintendent of Police (SP) of PBI Chittagong Metro Unit, Naima Sultana, said that it is believed that Shishu Ayani was killed after being raped. The accused, Rubel, has been arrested. The child’s body was recovered and sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem. Legal action is being taken against the accused.
According to court sources, the victim’s mother filed a case in the court of Special Tribunal for Prevention of Torture against Women and Children-2 Sharmin Jahan on Tuesday on the allegation of child Ayani’s abduction. The only one accused is Rubel (35). His house is in the Kazir Dighi area of Pahartali police station in the city. It is mentioned in the complaint of the case that the victim child is in the fourth grade at a primary school in the city. Both his mother and father work in garment factories.
On March 21, the victim went to school and did not return. After reviewing the CCTV footage from the day of the incident and the day before, the victim was seen talking to the accused in the case.
On this day, the court heard the complaint and ordered the officer-in-charge (OC) of Pahartali police station to take the necessary action and consider the case as a direct FIR.
