Dhaka Bureau: A woman victim has complained that she is being harassed while seeking legal help from the officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station. He alleged that he was being harassed in various cases as he did not agree to the proposal to spend time alone with the OC.
He made these allegations in a press conference organized at the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (Crab) office on Monday. He demanded exemplary punishment of OC in this incident. However, Mongla Police Station OC Monirul Islam said that the allegations against him were fabricated and concocted.
In the press conference, the victim woman said that they have a case pending in court regarding the land. When I approached Mongla police station OC Monirul Islam about this, he turned a blind eye to me instead of helping me. He didn’t even hesitate to touch my body. He also asked me to meet him alone on the third floor of the police station, saying that he would do me a favor. He is harassing me and my family members in various ways for not responding to his immoral calls. Not only the police, but the Drug Enforcement Administration (DNC) is sending people to my house. Every day, the police come and disturb our house. They are also trying to take over our homesteads by taking bribes from our opponents.
In his written statement, he said, My father-in-law. Yusuf Howladar filed a case against his opponent, Kamal Hossain, in Bagerhat’s 2nd Joint District Judge Court. On the issue of this case, taking immoral advantage from the defendant Kamaler Hossain, on the orders of OC Monirul, his (Kamal’s) people are harassing us in various ways, including vandalizing our house and trying to occupy our house.
He said that on the morning of December 11 last year, OC Monirul came to our house and entered the gate alone in the name of investigation. Come and tell me; you are so young. At one point he grabbed my hand and put his hand on my back. When I hesitated, he asked for my WhatsApp number. When he said there was no White’s app number, he asked to meet alone in his room on the third floor of the police station. He promises to solve all problems if he meets. At some point during these conversations, when other policemen and people arrived, he changed his behavior.
After this incident, the OC became more reckless. He has been harassing us often by sending police to us on the land issue. Since then, my husband, Mozammel Hossain Himel, became mentally ill and had a brain stroke. Currently, Kamal’s people are trying to occupy our homestead with the help of OC. In this situation, through you, I request the immediate intervention of the Home Minister, IGP, and other concerned parties to look into the actions of the police officer and take necessary action against him.
When asked about this, Mongla police station OC Monirul Islam denied the charges brought against him and said that these were their fabricated charges.
