Chandpur Correspondent: Ramadan is starting in around 50 villages of Chandpur as of Thursday (March 23), in coordination with Saudi Arabia. The followers of Sadra Darbar Sharif of Hajiganj Upazila in the district celebrate Agam Roza and two Eids every year.
Sadra Darbar Sharif’s current Pir Sheikh, Md. Arif Chowdhury, said, “We read Tarabi last night, had Sehri, and started fasting today.” The 29 Sha’ban moon was not seen anywhere. 30 Shaban is over. It’s not been a month since then. The first Ramadan begins today.
Shamim Munsi of Faridganj Upazila, a follower of this doctrine, said that on Wednesday nights, Tarawir prayer is offered at 8:30 p.m. after Isha prayer. Fasting ceremonies are started by eating Sehri in the early morning.

Teacher of Shahrasti Upazila Ruhul Amin said that although there were no followers of this doctrine in our upazila earlier, it has increased in the last few years. They also now observe early fasting and Eid.

It is known that the late Maulana Abu Ishaq English, the founding principal of Hamidiya Fazil Madrasah in Sadra, started the practice of all the religious customs of Islam in harmony with the Arab world in 1928. After his death, his six sons continued this doctrine. After the death of Pir’s eldest son, Abu Jofar Mohammad Abdul Hai, now his son, Arif, is also practicing this doctrine.
