Become “the people’s police’ by increasing service quality: IGP

Own Correspondent: Chittagong District Police’s ‘Annual Police Rally and Sports Competition” was held yesterday (March 20) and included a prize distribution ceremony, cultural evening, and dinner. Bangladesh Police Inspector General Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, BPM (Bar), PPM, was present as the chief guest.

IG Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun entered the Chittagong District Police Lines after being surrounded by a motorcade procession at 4:30 p.m. After welcoming the chief guest with flowers, Superintendent of Police S.M. Shafiullah Meanwhile, a smart team of the district police led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Sudipta Sarkar PPM presented a `guard of honor” to the IGP. Then the IGP distributed the prizes among the winners in various events of the sports competition.

In the speech of the chief guest, IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said that the police are working tirelessly to maintain law and order and provide public safety in the country. We have been able to suppress militancy in the country with the cooperation of all by implementing the ‘zero tolerance policy’ announced by the honorable Prime Minister against militancy and terrorism.

He said to the policemen, “We have done a good job, so we should not be complacent; we will do better in the future. To become Bangabandhu’s “people’s police,” we need to constantly improve our service quality. Helpless people come to the police station to get services. All policemen should strive to ensure that the people who come to the police station get the services they expect.

The police chief said that the national emergency service (999) has been able to gain the trust of the people. He urged everyone to call 999 for police assistance.

After the prize distribution, he cut the cake for the 2023 Annual Police Rally and Sports Competition with the guests.

The cultural evening started at 7:30 p.m. Everyone present was enthralled by the mesmerizing songs, dances, and comedy performances of the elite artists. Then the IGP attended the dinner along with the guests.
