Dhaka Bureau: The Standing Committee of the Ministry of Religious Affairs has recommended reducing the air fare of Hajj passengers from Tk 1 lakh 97 thousand 797 to Tk 1 lakh 50 thousand due to the increase in the cost of the upcoming Hajj.
This recommendation was made in the parliamentary committee meeting held in the National Parliament on Wednesday (March 15). Chairman of the 16th meeting of the Standing Committee on Religious Affairs of the 11th National Parliament It was held today at Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan under the chairmanship of Hafez Ruhul Amin Madani.
Committee members Syed Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari, Jinnatul Bakiya, and Mosa Tahmina Begum and Ratna Ahmed participated.
The meeting asked the ministry to include doctors specializing in heart disease, asthma, and diabetes in the medical team sent to treat Hajj pilgrims.
The committee has recommended speeding up the process of including Bangladeshi students studying at various universities in Saudi Arabia to assist Hajj pilgrims.
The committee’s 15th meeting focused on the implementation of the committee’s decisions and the activities of the upcoming Hajj 2023. Senior officials of the Ministry and the National Parliament Secretariat, along with the Director General of the Islamic Foundation (IFA), were present.
