Sukanth Bikash Dhar, Satkania: Four people, including an army man, were shot dead by enemy fire while repairing the road leading to Swachchashram. The injured are being treated at Upazila Health Complex. The incident took place at around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning in Ward No. 4 North Purangarh’s Panch Ghar Para area of Purangarh Union of Satkania Upazila. Those who were shot are Abshar Uddin (52), son of deceased Mr. Mia of the said area, Md. Jinnat Ali (38), son of deceased Anu Mia, Mohammad Khokon (35), son of Ahmad Kabir, and army member Md. Abu Hanif (32). In this incident, Nurul Islam Prakash of the said area blamed Nurul’s son, Jahedul Islam (35). However, he said that he was not involved in the incident.

Locals rescued us and took us to Upazila Health Complex for treatment. Zahid fled after the incident.
The doctor on duty at Satkania Upazila Health Complex, Dr. Tanveer Hasan, said that the four people who were admitted to the hospital with gunshot wounds were given first aid as well as an X-ray. If any of them are serious, they will be referred to Chamek Hospital for better treatment. Others will be admitted to the hospital.
Jahedul Islam denied his involvement in the incident and said that during the road repair, there was an argument with the people of the neighborhood about entering the road. On this occasion, Shahnewaz Saudagar and Saifuddin of Ward No. 5, adjacent to us, came with guns and shot and fled. I am not involved in this incident. Jahedul also said that Shawnewaz and Saifuddin accused me of a murder case in the Chiringhata area of Puragarh. From then on, I had a conflict with them. After the incident, they ransacked and looted my house.
In this regard, Shahnewaz and Saifuddin said that after shooting Jahed, we went to look for Jahed along with the local people. So he blames us.
AFM Mahbubul Haque Sikder, Chairman of the local Puranagarh Union (UP), said that Zaheed is known as a drug dealer and terrorist in the area. He did not listen, even though he forbade him many times. There are several cases against him at the police station.
Satkania Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Yasir Arafat said that police have been deployed in the area since the incident. Operations are underway at various locations to arrest Zaheed, who was involved in the incident. However, no one has yet filed a case or complaint at the police station.
