Dhaka Bureau: Bangladesh and Argentina signed a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and official passports. As a result, holders of official passports and diplomats will not need visas to travel to Argentina.
Monday (February 27), at the State Guest House, Yamuna, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen and Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero signed the agreement on behalf of their respective countries. Apart from the visa exemption agreement on diplomatic and official passports, another agreement on football has been signed between the two countries. Besides, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the diplomatic training academies of the two countries.
Meanwhile, the country has reopened its embassy in Dhaka after more than four decades (45 years). Earlier, the country’s foreign minister, Santiago Cafiero, arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning. On this day, he participated in the opening ceremony of the embassy. Besides, I attended a meeting with the Foreign Minister in the evening.
On the second day of the visit, Tuesday (February 28), Santiago will pay tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at 32 Dhanmondi. He will have a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the same day. Besides, Santiago will also meet with Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi. That afternoon, Santiago will watch a friendly football match between under-14 footballers after exchanging views with Bangladesh Football Federation (BAFFE) president Kazi Salauddin.
Apart from this, the foreign minister of Argentina will have a business-to-business meeting with the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the top organization of businessmen.
